Communications Audits and Surveys
If you’re part of a member-based organisation then from time to time
you will want to know what your members think about the organisation
they belong to and support. You may want to tap their ideas as to the
future, you may wish to find out from those recently lapsed members why
the have not renewed their subs. With this information in mind you then
begin to think of surveys. This is when many people hit the buffers.
Running a survey is not cheap. The national survey organisations charge
high fees to offset their large staff and overheads.
This is where Richard Ellis comes in. We are a small team with very low
overheads and we specialise in carrying out surveys and audits within
the public, voluntary/charitable and arts based organisations.
We have experience in medium to small organisations and, although based
in Edinburgh, we are prepared to work UK wide. The particular range of
services we offer include:
• Communication audits - how do people in your organisation communicate? Where are
the blockages? Who needs to know what, from whom and by when?
• Staff attitude surveys - what do the staff really think of their organisation and the
system they work for?
• Training needs survey - where are the real gaps as far as training is concerned?
• Members’ survey - what do members want from their organisation? Are they happy with
the way the organisation is managed? What do they see as its future direction?
The methods we employ will depend very largely on the nature of the
organisation and the kind of survey wanted. In the past we have made
use of telephone surveys, focus groups, questionnaires, open surgeries
at AGMs and conferences, information posted to our website or e-mailed
directly to us.
As far as possible we try to combine the technological approaches –
e-mail etc with the face to face personal approaches. The combination
of these systems provide us reliable information.
